Workshops, Staff Training, Speaking at Your Event

pete_expect_more_April_2015Nearly 90% of library funding is dependent on the will of the local voters and the will of the local politicians. In this era of anti-tax and anti-government rhetoric, we need to train librarians and library supporters to understand their political role in ensuring that libraries remain well-funded and able to provide services to their community. To that end, we’ve designed a wide range of trainings, workshops, and presentations that can help you, your staff, and your advocates understand the tools that are available to them. We can consult your organization and design our courses to compliment the needs of your library, association, or conference attendees.

EveryLibrary board members and advisors are frequent speakers, presenters, conveners, and keynoters for library conferences and symposia across the country. Many of our trainings are not about the specifics of library campaigns and local politics, but instead focus on strategies for librarians, trustees, and other stakeholders to activate the public in the absence of a ballot initiative and build political support within their community.Sweeney VLA14 1

As library subject-specialists, we can also speak on a variety of topics for your library school and library system.  We have been featured speakers and keynoters for staff development days, in-services, and trustee trainings.  We relate to the workplace challenges and professional development goals of library staff, trustees, and friends because we are peers. We can bring a fresh, engaging, and inspiring conversation to your library system or library school events.

We provide a wide range of workshops for staff, advocates, trustees, volunteers and anyone interested in building and understanding political acumen to benefit libraries. These workshops include activism, advocacy, fundraising, managing volunteers, holistic digital strategies, developing strong coalitions and partnerships, and building effective messages.

Please contact us directly in the form below for information about honorarium and travel expenses as well as our availability for 2017 and 2018 library conferences. Please note that if you choose an EveryLibrary Board member as your library conference keynote speaker, an additional conference program presentation or panel elsewhere during the session day is included, if desired.
